Fall 2022 | On September 13, 2022, Cambridge Development Group broke ground on WatersEdge– two 100,000 square-foot Class “A” suburban office buildings located on 14.1 acres at the Brooks Campus in San Antonio, Texas. On September 14, 2022, a San Antonio Express News article recognized the project as the first new high-end office property to be constructed in the Southeast region of San Antonio. WatersEdge I and II, encompassing 200,000 rentable square-feet of office space is anticipated to bring both sustainability as well as economic development to the Southeast community.
The complex is designed with sustainability features at the forefront. WatersEdge I, the first of the two buildings under development by Cambridge, overlooks scenic waterfalls and a beautifully landscaped pond. The carefully curated plants surrounding the pond will absorb water runoff and provide a pleasing aesthetic for the outdoor spaces. Locally sourced building materials such as light-colored stone and concrete exterior increase cooling efficiency. Outdoor communal spaces include a food truck park and comfortable seating areas. The campus landscape will feature approximately 200 shade trees– which will improve air quality and provide respite in a relaxing greenspace. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the purposefully planned arroyos will aid in capturing storm water for site irrigation and will reduce the flow of run off into San Antonio’s storm water system. Along with being less than 1 mile from the VIA Brooks Transit Center that provides 7 bus lines, the property will feature bike racks to promote environmentally friendly transportation.
In addition to a positive environmental impact, the new high-end office park has the potential to increase socio-economic growth by bringing in top-level tenants offering high-paying jobs. The 4-story commercial office buildings are strategically located near the Mission Trail Baptist Hospital and DPT Laboratories.
